Nate Alder handles catastrophic injury cases, including accidents resulting in traumatic brain injury, spinal cord injury, and wrongful death. He has prosecuted cases arising from a variety of circumstances, including drowning, toxic exposure, as well as accidents involving automobiles, trucks, aircraft, watercraft, pedestrians, bicycles, and construction. Nate also handles insurance bad faith and insurance coverage cases, in addition to commercial litigation.
After clerking for a federal judge, Nate joined the firm and its Plaintiff’s Practice Group where he focused his attention on maximizing value in each case. Nate has been able to achieve several multi-million dollar settlements and numerous seven- and six-figure policy limit settlements for injured clients. By diligently pursuing key issues. Nate has been able to turn cases around, build momentum, and obtain large settlements. Nate's success has vaulted him to top professional work, including some of Utah’s high profile personal injury cases.
Nate is a leader in Utah’s mediation community and has helped the firm and its clients embrace mediation as an effective way of resolving cases. In addition to serving as a mediator, he frequently teaches dispute resolution techniques. He co-founded the Dispute Resolution Section of the Utah State Bar, and later served as its Chair. He serves on the Board of the Utah Council on Conflict Resolution, Inc. and will serve as its Chair in 2011. He was trained to be a mediator at the Straus Institute for Dispute Resolution at Pepperdine University's School of Law in Malibu, California. Nate is AV Peer Review Rated by Martindale-Hubbell sinc 2002, he has served on the Utah Supreme Court Advisory Committee on Professionalism. Since 2010, he has served on the Supreme Court's Committee on New Lawyer Training. He was President of the Utah State Bar from 2008-2009. He served as an elected Bar Commissioner from 2003-2008. Since 2004, Utah Business magazine has listed Nate as one of Utah’s Legal Elite. He is a Mountain States Super Lawyer, a recognition by by Law & Politics. For his work in the community, he received the Irene Fisher Engaged Citizen Award from Utah Campus Compact, a Hearts & Hand Award from the Utah Nonprofits Association, and a Merit Citation Award from Utah State University. He served as president of Utah’s Young Lawyers and received a distinguished service award from the Bar for that service. He is active in the American Bar Association, the National Council of Bar Presidents, and the Utah Association for Justice.
Nate graduated from Indiana University-Bloomington with a J.D. from the School of Law and an M.P.A. from the School of Public and Environmental Affairs. He received his B.A. from Utah State University where he served as student Academic Vice President.
