Kristen was an exciting recruit for the Firm’s appellate and commercial litigation practice groups in 2011. Before joining the firm, Kristen spent two years with the Utah Supreme Court as a law clerk for the Hon. Jill N. Parrish, gaining invaluable insight into the appellate process. Previously, Kristen clerked for a litigation firm, where she worked on a wide range of commercial matters, and for the Utah Labor Commission. Before law school, Kristen had a business background, assisting with proposal support and financial estimates for a communication company, and assisting a large national retailer with Sarbanes-Oxley compliance and improving the efficiency of its financial reporting process.

AREAS OF PRACTICE

Appeals: Represents businesses and individuals in appeals at the Utah Supreme Court, Utah Court of Appeals, Tenth Circuit Court of Appeals, and in administrative appeals. As a Supreme Court clerk for two years, drafted legal opinions, performed legal research and analysis, studied trial records and briefs, attended oral arguments, and made recommendations for the disposition of cases.

Commercial Litigation: Represents businesses and individuals in commercial disputes.

Employment: Represents businesses in employment cases. Representative experience includes analysis, investigation, and preparing findings of fact and rulings for Utah Labor Commission in employment discrimination claims under Title VII, ADEA, and ADA.
